Long over-due

Ok, everyone. FINALLY here are the pictures of the nursery. Sorry they seem a bit dark, it was a snowy gray day when we took the pictures. Thanks to my mom being here over Spring break (back in March) we have several homemade burp cloths, cribsheets, receiving blankets, curtains, wall-hanging, and much MUCH more! We are down to the last 2 months of waiting and I've only got 10 more days of teaching left until summer is officially started! How exciting! We are looking forward to welcoming our new bundle of joy with more and more excitement each day!

A couple of notes about a few things in the nursery...most of the little porcelin dolls on the white shelves (put up later, on the wall behind the rocker, by Drew after many a choice word and grunts of frustration) were given to me, each year on my birthday, by my late grandmother. I couldn't help but be thrilled that I get to pass these on to my little girl, as her great-grandmother will not be able to continue the tradition. Also, Drew carried on one of the Hunt family traditions and she even has her very first piggy bank (and yes, it is PINK!) with her first bit of savings already in place.

Happy New Year to you all out there! 2010 has brought four more days of Christmas break due to below zero temperatures and 6 more inches of snow. So it's back to teaching NEXT Monday instead of this past Tuesday for Kellie! Woohoo! Drew has been a bit jealous, as he doesn't get snow days and has had to work while Kellie gets to snuggle back down and sleep in.

Also, if for some reason you have been out of the loop, the Christmas season brought a very exciting piece of news for our little family...we are pregnant! Kellie is due July 31st and the baby seems to be just peachy at this point in time. Baby Hunt has also already earned it's first nickname; Peanut. We'll be sure and keep you posted on the fun and exciting developments throughout the upcoming months!

It was SO cold and I was thinking "seriously!? I'm gonna freeze!" We were in Kirkland, WA at my aunt/uncle's place taking pictures. We ended up having fun, all the same!

I'm not sure what made him make that face, but it cracked us up!

Calder LOVED walking over the "bridge"

I was going through a ton of photos that I have neglected over the past more than 10 years. Some dated back to my Sophmore year of High school...others during college, and some just after. I found a disk that I've had and, curious, put it on the computer to see what was on it. The photos above were there! I completely forgot about my goal to get these printed/scrapbooked a few years ago when they were taken!!! I can't, honestly, remember exactly when it was...fall/winter of 200?....something. Man, I'm SO far behind!!! *sigh* I need to catch the scrapbooking bug...I just can't get it together! Anyway, I thought it would be at least a step in the right (general) direction if I posted some on here.

I'll post a few more on another blog, as they have a limit as to how many I can put on one post.

Nap Time

This is Jasmine's favorite position when she's napping downstairs. She also enjoys sleeping on top of the air conditioner vent in the floor. She either has her head or her whole belly over the vent.

Also I wanted her to model her new pink 'backpack' for going on walks (and no I haven't taken the tags off yet...I want to make sure it will fit for awhile!!). Awww the joys of puppy-hood! :-)

Garden before...after!

Here are pictures of the garden boxes my mom helped me plant the first week we moved in (first week of June). We planted banana peppers, jalapeno peppers, red/green peppers, and 3 rows of lettuce (but only one row grew) in the first box without tomato cages; this is best seen in pictures 3 & 4, tomatoes and corn in the middle box (the corn didn't grow); best seen in picture 2 in the box on the right of the frame, and one more tomato plant, sugar snap peas, winter squash, sweet pea flowers, and cucumbers in the box closest to the corner of the fence; best seen in picture 2 in the box on the left, closer to the trash can. I use the trash can with a liner for weeding, and it works great! I had it in a different spot in picture #1, but like it better closer to the compost pile now in picture 2. The first pictures is what they looked like the weekend we planted them.
The cucumber plants, sugar snap peas, four of the five tomato plants and all the pepper plants have all grown like CRAZY!!! We've already gotten 4 banana peppers, and almost a dozen jalapeno peppers! There are even 6 tomatoes growing and just about that many flowers on the cucumber plants. No flowers on the sugar snap peas, yet. The tomato plants and snap peas are as tall as me, and the cucumber plant decided to creep up the cage where the sweet peas didn't grow. The last three pictures are what they look like today! Crazy!!! I love it!!
I'm hoping to build another couple of boxes for next year to start strawberries and rhubarb, and I may even start raspberries along the back of one as well. I'm actually starting to think I might have picked up a teeny tiny bit of my mom's love of gardening...baby steps...baby steps!
